Terrestrial Photogrammetry - 08-19-2009, 12:54 PM

Hello:

I am a Land Surveyor for an large engineering firm in Boston. We do many detailed surveys for Architects & engineers. We utilize Aerial photogrammetry on many of our projects.

I want to be able to offer Terrestrial (ground based) photogrammetry as an option for some of our projects.

We will be buying a Nikon D90 (I have a D50 & a bunch of glass) and a 20mm 2.8 lens.

There are a number of software programs that allow scale/tilt correction of photos that can be brought into Auto Cad.

I am having a hard time deciding which package to buy. They range from $75-$1200. I know price does not always mean better.

Has anyone had any experience with this type of software?

Any input would be appreciated.

p.s. we own a $100,000 laser (lidar scanner) but shooting digital photos is appropriate for many of our projects & it gives the client a scaled photo as well as allowing us to perform calculations in CAD.

Thanks:
